What is hypogonadism?

Hypogonadism occurs when sex glands called gonads produce little, if any, sex hormones. The condition causes a low sex drive or libido. Hypogonadism is sometimes called gonad deficiency.

What are the sex glands and sex hormones?

Testicles (testes) in the male reproductive system produce testosterone, the main male hormone. Hypogonadism in men is the result of low testosterone.

What are the types of hypogonadism?

Two glands in your brain, the hypothalamus and pituitary, send signals to sex glands. These signals tell your body to make sex hormones. When you have hypogonadism, something within the brain or sex glands interferes with hormone production.

  • Primary hypogonadism: A problem within the sex glands slows or stops hormone production.
  • Secondary (central) hypogonadism: A problem with brain signals affects hormone production.

Effectiveness of low level laser therapy for treating male infertility.

Abstract

In half of the cases, the infertility of the couple is due to the disorder of the male fertility. The leading factors that cause male infertility are urogenital infections, disorders of the immune system, testicular and prostate pathology, as well as endocrine disorders.

Low level laser therapy (LLLT) is a very effective physical therapy method, used in many areas of medicine, including obstetrics and gynaecology, andrology and urology; and it is recommended as an integral part of the complex treatment of infertility.

The literature review showed that LLLT is beneficial in treating male infertility. Laser can significantly improve the survival, motility and speed of movement of spermatozoa. Laser therapy of patients with prostatitis and vesiculitis can eliminate infiltrative-exudative changes, improve reproductive and copulatory functions.

Treatment at Light Care

A treatment session takes 60 minutes and consists of:
